The phrase ‘rising star’ gets peddled out a lot to convey when an artist is on the cusp of becoming something really special. Galway girl and gifted musician/singer Elaine Mai is undoubtedly a rising star and we are thrilled to have her supporting James Vincent McMorrow and Lisa Hannigan – both of whom wore the mantle of ‘rising star’ not too long ago – at the Festival Big Top on July 26th. Elaine’s voice, song-writing skills and the mastery in which she blends music with technology mark her out as an innovator, someone who is pushing Irish music toward new horizons.
